Needs me some one-off Binaltechs.

I'm so debating about buying a Binaltech BT-01A Red Alert and preordering the Binaltech Broadcast.

Binaltech Skids at least doesn't appear to have the shitty paint job that Hasbro is using. The flames on a Scion are just the dumbest thing in the world. And the huge Scion letters? Ugh.

I have my doubts that Hasbro will release Red Alert in the Alternatores line since they are going to reuse the Subaru as Richochet/Stepper. Odds are that Hasbro won't release the blue Acura Prowl either so I may as well snag the Takara version too.

The shit that boy finds.

Alternator Prowl

October 30, 2005 - Alternator Prowl

Holy Shit!!! Giga totally blew me away tonight because he found me an Alternator Prowl at the ToysRUs thing I blogged about earlier.

Prowl is like one of the hardest damn figures to find and few have popped up in the Cowlands. For one of have been acquired is like panties moistening goodness.

Woot!!! I've been looking for him for ages with no luck. Hell. My life has been like a Shortpacked comic strip.

You know it is crazy when the quest of find a frigg'n Alternator becomes a 3 part comic strip.

Alas, we are the addicted.

What's even more bizarre is that Prowl wasn't on a the shelf. Giga and Evebird had gone through all the TF plastic crack and there was nothing. Since they needed a cart for other stuff Giga headed up back to the front of the store and after he got the cart he saw Prowl sitting in what looked like a return bin waiting ot be put back on the shelf.

And he snagged him for me!!!

Number in Collection: 1464.

Can I make up for being retarded?

So tonight there's some kind of special "employee night" at ToysRUs for his company Giger gets a discount or somesuch shit.

I really don't know if I'll be going since there's no point unless ToysRUs actually had something new to buy Transformers-wise.

But... that huge ass Starscream is on sale and with the discount that he's getting it might be worth it.

I could then take back the one I bought the other day and recoup some of my costs on a figure that I really only ever wanted to buy on clearance.

He's just too fucking big and ugly. And of course Dark Scorponok is just totally pointless to own.

Both of them are very dumb retarded purchases on my part.

Cybertron Longrack

I've decided that I really like this Cybertron Longrack figure. I love his color palette. I love his new head sculp. I love his chest. I love his legs.

I just hate the "non-arm" arms.

The shovel art is total gimmick and the other non-arm is just ugly.

That being said, his left arm's "should" is actually a nice big size but just needs a real forearm and proper hand. This then needs to be duplicated on the right side.

Sure. His alt mode with be vehicle-ish.

But he'd look awesome.

A cracky evening is planned.

I haven't opened them yet since I've been going back and forth mentally if they are worth it or not.

Of course. Deep down inside my the black depths of my mind I know I will rip them open this weekend.

I need to get the Attic cleaned up a bit, the a/c unit out of the window, and a heater in Number Six's tank.

Of course, there's also the shelves to clean up and Tranformers to place.

So it'll be crack tonight.

$50 of total balls suckitude!

Yes. You read me right.

$50 of total suck.

Balls nasty sucking even.

Patience.

Bear with me while I try and get this site's design fully implemented.

What I liked about the other site just isn't working for me here. But I think I'll stay with the blues/purples this time around.

Maybe by Friday night I can have it done. Giger'll be at the movies anyway so I'll have time to spend on it.

I should have stayed in the car.

October 26, 2005 - Five new Cybertron figures

He wanted to run to Graceland Kroger after Scary Korean tonight and of course, much to my dismay, we also had to stop at Target.

I suppose I should not be complaining because I seem to have walked into a fresh case assortment!

Snagged Cybertron Runamuck, Snarl, Longrack, Blurr, and Sideways.

Runamuck, Longrack, and Blurr are retooled Armada molds. I'm actually liking the new Blurr. Best use of the mold yet. I'm also happy that Habsbro brought over the Japanese name Longrack. (Longrack was a giraffe beast in Beast Wars Neo.) Runamuck still sucks balls. Time to kill this mold.

Sideways and Snarl are new and in the show. Not bad looking. Will have to spend quality time opening them tomorrow.

Numbers in Collection: 1459-1463.

Super mega bad crazyness.

I keep getting more work done over at naladahc.com and now the Transformer Category is fully online for easy access to the lameness.

I really need to fix my entries from 1999 to 2004. There's so much that's not up there but hey. It is a start.

And perhaps my favorite moment when looking back are the entries from November 11, 2004 and then from November 12, 2004.

Man oh man that was bad crazyness.

And to think that I added 658 figures to the collection since November 11 is in-fucking-sane.

October 24, 2005 - Cybertron Starscream and Dark Scorponok

Oh what being depressed and reading about a 20% off sale on Transformers will do to someone who is both the lame and also an addict.

Yes. I broke down today after lunch and ran to K-Mart and picked up the huge Cybertron Starscream and a Cybertron Dark Scorponok, neither of which I really wanted but the sale made them more palatable.

Scorponok's a mediocre repaint of Energon Scorponok and unfortunately nothing to write home about. Hell... fans have done better repaints of the mold than Hasbro has done.

I'm guessing this is purely a "fill shelf space" figure since Energon Scorponok clogged shelves for many months last year.

Cybertron Starscream is not to be confused with the Starscream from the ToysRUs Exclusive 2-Pack I got the other day. This is the 13" one that is quite frankly too fucking big to be of any use. (I included the smaller one in the image above for reference.)

There's a reason that smaller action figures became popular in the 70s and the rare "larger than 6 inch" ones.

I know some people like 13" but it is just too much for me to handle. I've heard negative things about this figure so I don't expect him to do much other than stand there towering above my other figures.

Numbers in Collection: 1457-1458.

Error Edition?

This moment's "What The Fuck Are You Smoking" Ebay auction is for a lot of Rare Transformers 2005 BotCon Dirge Error edition direct from Hong Kong.

I don't seem to recall the special rare "Error Edition" at the convention last month.

What The Fuck? You don't say!

This moment's "What The Fuck Are You Smoking" Ebay auction is for a lot of 6 E-Hobby releases with a starting bid on only $850.

You too much be smoking large amounts of crack to even think about bidding on this.

Collectors on LSD should also be encouraged to refrain from using Ebay for the duration of your trip.

Went and had breakfast with Kelmeister and Mr. P. this morning. Was very good to see them.

Then went out on a toy run to the northwest side on tips from Evebird about new crack.

And yes! Scored!

KayBee had the Micromaster Trainbots exclusives and WeBeToys had the Starscream/Vector Prime exclusive 2 Pack in so I snagged me some goodness.

There were no Alternator Prowls anywhere to be found.

Sucks.

October 22, 2005 - TRU Exclusive Starscream / Vector Prime 2 Pack

It has been a helluva long time since I bought so much plastic crack on a toy run around Cowtown but I also snagged the Toys R Us Exclusive 2 Pack of Starscream and Vector Prime.

This is the only domestic release of the smaller Starscream mold and it is substantially different in color palette compared to the larger one and the Takara release. Vector Prime, from what I can tell, is the same white one as the rest of the Hasbro released single-packs.

It is a nice set. It would have been nice if it was about $5-7 cheaper but hey, these are the kind of sized bots I wish the Botcon exclusives would be. (And Botcon 2006 should repaint this smaller Starscream mold as Thundercracker, Skywarp, and Sunstorm. Hell. This one looks more colored like Thrust than Starscream even.)

I never intended to buy the Habsro Vector Prime since I already have the superior Takara grey/gold version. This one just looks too washed out. His minicon Safeguard still rocks the balls though. He's one of the best minicon designs ever and definitely blends in well with Vector Prime.

Vector Prime has a lot of cheaper plastic on him too. His sword and alt mode "wings" are flimsier than the Takara one. I'd read about the flimsy sword issue and it is sad since it is a nice mold.

Starscream on the whole is great. It is a nice color scheme but I would have named him Thrust since this palette is more of a G1 Thrust homage.

All in all a nice 2 pack.

Numbers in Collection: 1451-1456.

KB Exclusive Micromaster Trainbots

October 22, 2005 - KB Exclusive Trainbots

My oh my what a cracky day here in the Cowlands.

On a tip from Evebird I headed to KB Toyworks and lo and behold the Micromaster Trainbot Combiners were finally released.

This is the first domestic release of the Takara SixTrain mold here in the States and other than the inappopriately named Swindle, used for the left leg component, I can't find fault in these guys.

Yeah. At $3.99/each they are a bit pricey considering it takes 6 of them to merge into Rail Racer but I do likes me some Micromasters.

Since they are an exclusive I bought one to open and one to keep mint-on-card for the future of the collection. Store exclusives are the only time I will be buying duplicates of any retail Transformers. I learned my addiction issues with Energon and Armada and thankfully won't have that problem again. I still have extras to get rid of.

Numbers in Collection: 1439-1450.

Man Amazon. That was fast!

Cybertron Mudflap and Leobreaker

October 17, 2005 - Cybertron Mudflap and Leobreaker

Other than suffering from a "I got shit hanging off my arms" problem, Cybertron Mudflap is really nice. I love a consistent color scheme (2 main colors, 1-2 detail colors) and he delivered perfectly on that. He's got a great head too.

The crane and weapon just hanging off the forearsm annoys me though. But otherwise he's great. Perhaps I can "remove" them.

To say that I'm underwhelmed about Cybertron Leobreaker would be an understatement. He's just ugly as hell and I just didn't seem to see it in the online pics I'd seen.

His transformation is really non-existent and he's pretty much a "stand him up... ta da... a robot" kind of guy and that sucks the balls of nastiness for a Transformer.

I'd imagine the his gimmick of being Optimus Prime's arm is the limiting factor here. Why on earth he does this is beyond me and since we don't get the WB I'll never see the cartoon and know.

Definitely will have to think twice before getting the Nemesis Leobreaker repaint or the Takara Dark Ligerjack version.

I will thank Hasbro for coming up with a new name. I definitely like Leobreaker as a name. I figured we'd end up with yet another iteration of Prowl since he's a lion. Good to see we didn't.

Oh. And Amazon.com rocks. I just ordered this thing on Friday and it is here Monday afternoon already. That is balls rock'n as we say here in Nalatown.

Numbers in Collection: 1437, 1438.

10-16-05-rm-lioconvoy.jpgJust when I thought Takara was going to stop producing items for the Robot Masters line it seems like Dengeki Hobby Magazine will offer yet another exclusive Robot Masters black repaint. This time in the form of Black Lio Convoy.

Now I do loves me some Lio Convoy and I also loves me some Robot Masters but enough with the black repaints.

The Black Victory Saber was already stretching it.

Yes. I'm a fucktard and will buy this. That much is certain since this is a line that I have got into my head I have to be a completist on.

But man. If you are gonna do an exclusive do a Sunstorm repainted from the Starscream mold or hell, I'd settle for a Ultra Magnus from the RM Convoy mold even.

Between loud jocktard neighbors and black repaints I just keep getting more frustrated in life.

So I spent all this time keeping an eye on that auction for the Car Robots God Fire Convoy giftset that I so want.

I even had an opportunity to up my bid when while we were out running around today.

But does it matter if you want something and actually look in on the auction? No. Those days are over.

There's no point in maintaining such care in your attitude about using Ebay when cuntbags come in at the last minute using automated sniping software to snag the auction.

And yes, from the looks of it, those last 2 bids coming in at the last minute and seconds were purely automated. Fuck. Even one account is called snipebot.

So basically I have to become a fucking vermin cuntbag myself and start using this kind of software if I want to win anything remotely unique.

I have to become what I despise to win.

Fucking dirtbag cuntbag vermin.

I so hate you. I so hate you all.

Alternator Decepticharge Dragstrip

October 15, 2005 - Alternator Dragstrip!

I can't believe it but Evebird totally surprised me with an Alternator Dragstrip he managed to find at a local Toys R Us today.

Woot!!! I've been looking for him for ages.

Number in Collection: 1436.

Skyweb and Soundcracker. Yeah. Uh-huh.

I don't feel guilty buying from Amazon.

I've given up trying to find new crack in the brick and mortar stores.

I just found Cybertron Mudflap and Leobreaker in-stock at Amazon.com and with free shipping so why bother driving around looking for these. Of course I ordered them.

Unfortunately, the Vector Prime-Starcream 2-Pack still isn't available nor are any new basics that are supposedly popping up. And the new Alternators are still AWOL.

I can't justify the crack pricing that the major online crack dealers (Big Bad, JRS, etc.) are charging for Alternators. They really are no more than $20 each so paying more for that + shipping on top is too much.

Yeah I might have it. But I'm still all about the value.

There's only 27 hours left on one of the auctions I'm bidding on.

And it happens to be a "holy grail" piece too.

I'm still winning.

I so want this.

Botcon Ratchet roxxorz the ballz!

Oh Botcon 2005 Exclusive Ratchet... you are demanding top dollar (in the $180+ range) on Ebay and on the message boards so many people dislike you. "Too white" they say. "Not enough other colors" they say.

Haters! All of them! Haters!

October 13, 2005 - Botcon Ratchet with G1 Ratchet PVC

I knew when Energon Tow-Line was released that eventually he would be redone as a Ratchet. I'm happy. Very happy.

You look so much more like your 1984 animation appearance. I'm happy Master Collector got Hasbro to create a new "accessory" for you that doubles as ambulance lights/sirens and I like your retooled head.

Let the haters hate. Me love you long time.

And you are so heads and tales above your original 1984 toy/robot form.

October 13, 2005 - Botcon Ratchet with G1 Ratchet

I still am amazed at what an eyesore you were back then.

Too bad Don Messick has passed away. He'll always make you sound like "you". But in lieu of Don Messick, I'll settle for for Tom Hardy being your new voice.

Oh. From earlier, I realized there's also the "Transformers Fan By Proxy" which I'd say is pretty much what Giga is.

My internal monologue is also debating the existence of the "Been there. Done that. Bought the animation cel. Fan" too.

Not fully sure this is a valid category yet.

Introducing... the Transformer Victim.

I've decided that there are at least 4 types of Transformer fans. Perhaps more. But I will need to do more long term critical analysis on the subject.

I can definitely attest that there are the hardcore TF Fans, the nominal TF Fans, the occasional TF Fan, and I've decided based of reading TF message boards that there are the TF Victims.

Yes. The Victims appear to have real problems with both the collecting life and their real lives.

More later.

Just needed to announce this for posterity.

You heard it here first!

[Note: Of course, every "geekdom" has its victims. Every sport fan has its victims. This isn't anything new mind you. But I so want to turn the eyes of an anthropologist onto the subject. But by doing so, do I become a the fifth class of fan: the Super Loser TF Fan? There is no such thing as an impartial objective observation because the mere existence of the the observer and his/her actions affects the observed. And with TF fans, the laws of physics then break down and chaos unfolds in... well... a chaotic fashion.

Hmmm. I typically don't wear emblematic shirts or clothing that isn't solid but this is kind of cool.

I mean. Few of the masses would recognize the Autobot Matrix of Leadership on a shirt now would they?

And since it is a black shirt I may just have to buy one of these.

Perhaps it'll help me finish writing Splintered, a novel in which said Autobot Matrix of Leadership plays a hideous and disgusting role.

Poor crack head addicts.

I feel very sorry for the crack addicts who couldn't find Alternator Tracks last year and ended up spending vast amounts of cash on Ebay to get one.

Hasbro has started producing more now and they are being released in the new round of Alternators packaging.

The rarity of this figure just nose-dived big time.

What I never could understand was the number of people who just didn't want to buy the Takara Binaltech version. Here's a die-cast metal version that rarely was more than $50 retail and the crack heads would spent $100 on the all-plastic Hasbro version but not just buy the better one. It made no sense.

Then again, that's why it is addiction.

School Repaints Ahoy Crush.

I was going to write an in-depth commentary about how depressed I am that my favorite pr0n star was apparently underage when making movies and all the films are now illegal to own or somesuch but instead I think I'll just let you know that 4 more pieces of plastic crack arrived in the mail today.

Botcon Ratchet, Flareup, and the Clones

Repaints ahoy!

Botcon Ratchet, Flareup, and the Clones

Yes. My other Botcon Ratchet and Flareup arrived and the 2 Virulent Clones that I had not previously bought are now here.

I'll pick the better of the 2 Ratchets (paint-wise) and pass the other one along into the void that is collectordom.

Numbers in Collection: 1431, 1432, 1433, 1435.

I am the lame.

Because it was asked of me, here's an updated wish/needs list.

I am the lame.

Is there a documentary in here somewhere?

If you've read my daily blog for the past 10 years you know how I have this love-hate relationship with my toy collection addiction.

I fully acknowledge how depressing it is to be an adult collector of a 20 year old toy line. I full acknowledge that I have a problem in the sense that a whole lotta money goes to shit that just sits on a shelf either in or out of a box or card.

It is even more strange when I constantly try to justify the collecting habit in light of house repairs and other major important events that affect reality at large.

I'm really not a part of the typical Transformers fandom. I don't relate all that much to a lot of the people who attend cons or bitch/rant on message boards and I rarely can deal with individuals who eat, breathe, and shit their specific geek thing at the expense of other aspects of their lives.

Yes. The mere fact I blog about and document this silly collection of mine is sick and twisted but it is only a small part of my life and will one day fade into oblivion as such things do.

But I would really like to get back into the things I wanted to do when I was at university and while I never went into a career in animation and filmmaking, I still have some of those skills (though dated) and I still have the urges to do something there.

So I'm thinking about what it would take to do a small documentary about Transformer collectors . I'm thinking a 30 minute runtime and maybe 12 months of production in and out of my regular life.

I'm not talking about some spurious fan film but something with a bit more depth and focus.

I guess my own self-joking about my "plastic crack addiction" got me thinking about Transformers fandom. Recently attending Botcon in Texas also made me realize I need something substantial to keep me interested in my habit and something like this might be fun to do.

Costs would be minimal and hell, I could possibly apply for some small grants to try and start this. It would mostly end up involving some upgrades to my PC hardware and software, fixing and/or replacing my digital camcorder, and a whole lot of time over the course of the year to plan this.

There are some local Cowlanders who are TF collectors and perhaps they would be interested in being interviewed or being the focus on part of the documentary. There's a lot of background history/knowledge from some of the people that is quite vast and extensive going back to the first Botcons 10 years ago. I'd have to find a way to incorporate some non-Cowlanders and I can think of a few people that I met in Texas that would lend other valuable viewpoints.

Transformers also has some similarities with the Star Wars and GIJoe collector mentalities and I'd like to explore that. I don't seem much overlap between these types of groups which in itself is worth exploring.

I'm thinking something along the spirit of Trekkies but with my own take on "addiction" in the collector/fan geek scenes.

Plus it would give me a new goal to work towards and quite possibly help me get into the heads of the Transformer fans that I have previously never understood.

I've even got real resources with producing and directing experience to draw upon for advice. Hell. I've got radio voices to draw upon for narration. I honestly and truly have the means to do this!!!

Masterpiece Convoy's Trailer

10-09-05-acq-trailer.jpg

There was an item I kind of forgot to mention that I finally acquired at Botcon for a pretty decent price from TFSource along with the E-Hobby Exclusive Victory Saber.

I finally got the unofficially produced Masterpiece Convoy Trailer. It is one helluva large item but I just had to have one to go with Convoy on the Binaltech/Alternator shelves.

Unfortunately, it really doesn't count as an addition to the collection because it is an accessory but it is pretty nice. Helluva nice box too.

Now if I can find a custom Roller to go with it! And here's hoping the make a trailer/carrier for Masterpiece Ultra Magnus too!
