My favorite ruler of the land of all-day Iron Maiden triggered me once again to read some new online pablum that I'd never been to before.
Of course, that has caused a new episode of...

Yes. There's a lot of geek shit here. I mean, the internets are pretty much my escape from the oh so exciting career I've chosen and home remodeling. Your own mileage may vary.
In no particular order:
- The Absorbascon - Scipio Garling's commentary on paper crack rarely fails to deliver.
- Postmodern Barney - Comics/Who/Miscellaneous and always entertaining.
- A funny thing happened on the way down the road... - TF geekage that I can appreciate.
- Hooper X
- Seven Hells - Devon Sanders' great comic blog. I really loved a recent "I Miss The Alleys" post.
- Extreme Polka - Blog of the Polkaholics
- Behind The Sofa - My favorite Who collective blog. I thought about doing a TF blog like this and then realized I was deluding myself.
- The Dumbass Daily
- Newsarama
- Please Save Me Robots - My most favoritest TF blog in the world. And quite frankly, one of the best written blogs in the world.
- My Boring Ass Life - Kevin Smith's blog
- Hairy Ticks of Dune - Because there aren't enough people out there making fun of the godawful writing of Kevin Anderson and Brian Herbert!
- Siskoid's Blog of Geekery
- Toledo Talk - You can take the boy out of Glass City but you can't take Glass City out of the boy.
- Teddy Kristiansen - Blog of one of my all-time favorite illustrators.
- Polite Dissent - The only blog were medicine and comics mix.
- lamezoid.com - I love Ramen Junkie but I'd be totally lying if I said I knew what the hell he's talking about 90% of the time if it is video game related.
- The Roar of Comics
- Blockade Boy
- Puppy Love
- Geektarded
- Fark.com - The greatest internet creation ever!
- Written World
- Legion Abstract - I am so easily sucked into Legion of Super-Heroes crap. Far to easy.
- The Legion Omnicon - See above.
- Ramblings of an Asshole
- The Beasthouse
- Walking Through Destiny's Garden
- The Gas Station @ The End of Time
And my tech bloggers and such are just too numerous to list.
What's funny though is I don't really comment much any more on any blogs or sites I read. Less now that work blocks 99% of everything and at home there's too much stuff to do instead of sitting in front of the computer.
Such is the way of life.

If it's any consolation I plan to pull out my snazzy new lightbox and take a ton of photos of all the new toys I've accumulated over the past month or so for use in blog posts.
There's lots more GI Joe content to come than Transformers however.
I just know zero about the video game world.
I've got to look into moving my blog from Livejournal to another site asap...
I don't know if it's just me but Livejournal is starting to seem pretty limited with what you can actually do post wise...
Also, that was the reason why i moved from Photobucket to Flickr. I don't like how Photobucket automatically resizes all your pictures and it's limited to what you can do...
And i can't be arsed to learn new code for blogging so *shrugs*
Any ideas ?
I don't know how any of those hosted blogging things work. I only have accounts on them to reserve my name and to be able to comment on others blogs sometimes.
I host my own sites and manage my own blogs and blog software so I don't know what to say.
Nala: Glad to see Newsarama on there! I'm curious about how much you drop a week or so on comics. I've noticed you have some sitting in some of the pics. I drop an average of $35 a week on them so with that and after going hardcore on Transformers this past summer I'm lucky to still have my girlfriend.
Nala & Bruticus & forgot who does the toy comic blog but you:
I recently got .mac for my Mac and as far as I know I can setup a website or do something with it.Since I'm a musician/comic-reader/toy collector I've been thinking about setting up a blog to keep more or less for myself so I'm wondering...keeping in mind that I have .mac...what's the best option for setting up a blog? Any help for someone that's not super computer savy would be great.
I'm lucky to drop $15 a month... less if I can help it.
Comics are the biggest waste of money in the world.
And I should know... I have had upwards of 18,000 of them in my life and unfortunately am still burdened with a ton of them in offsite storage. I'm fairly certain that they serve more use as kindling for a fire than anything else.
I can't help with the .mac thing. I used to be a Macintosh System Admin but left the Apple side back in 2001 or so. I know nothing about Macintosh or Apple Services anymore. Sorry.
I might add that obviously, you can see from the links, I live vicariously through the money-wasting comics buying and reading of other bloggers.
Without them, I would pretty much be in the dark.
$4+ for 22 pages of mostly mediocre storytelling is a killer.
Blasphemy I tell you!
Especially since where in an age of great storytelling that learned from the example of what was the shitty '90's. With writers like Grant Morrison, Geoff Johns, Ed Brubaker, Greg Rucka, Brian Michael Bendis & Joss Whedon, etc. Setting aside of course the ridiculous amount of crossovers and mega-events going on.
The only thing I'm not an advocate of is when stories are being told to make money. Such as needless deaths, needless shock-value, and as I said earlier, event after event just to sell books.
Bad example: The multi-verse genocide that is Countdown. Why bring something back just to destroy it? Then again Morrison eluded to the mega-verse which I'm sure will be coming in Final Crisis.
Good example: Cap's death. This is the prime example of how Brubaker has respect for the character and it shows in his writing.
With torrents it's pretty easy to not drop money on comics and get what you need without spending the money on them. I agree that $3 - 4 is alot to pay for comics but the quality shows in production. It's true that probably 80% of the medium is mediocre and something that I strongly believe in is if it's crap don't buy. But as with how there's a lot of bitchy Transformers fans out there the comic fans on the internet drive me fucking nuts. They complain about how people are molesting their favorite characters yet they're still buying the issues to have complete runs thinking that if they don't have issue 656 of their run of Batman they'll have a hole in their soul that won't be complete.
I pretty much keep the titles I love & eBay the ones I don't think I'll ever read again or if the story just didn't leave it's mark with me. Sometimes I even trade floppys for trades or hardcovers so I don't have boxes upon boxes taking up so much space. I do have an office though that's pretty much filled with action figures, transformers & comics which I'm not complaining about because writing and/or drawing comics is what I want to do for a living and if I ever need a new liver it will be paid for.
When I was a kid I owned "S.o.S. Dinobots" & "Fire in the Sky" on VHS. Fire in the Sky being my favorite Transformers episode ever. I'm right now working on a Mosaic story about Skyfire & Starscream that I'm going to submit to IDW that will tell a story about the two of them when they were scientists and it'll lead straight into Starscreams betrayal of Skyfire/Jetfire. I guess I just gave up on my dream of being a rock star so I moved on to the dream of writing or drawing comics for a living...beats working in insurance.
I'm not sure how old you are Nala but I'm 28 so maybe when I grow up & have kids I might have that "moment of clarity" you seem to have haved and glance around the room and all the plastic crack & fire kindling and share the same opinion...I just don't hope it's anytime soon!
Travis: Make sure you commission a DeviantArtist to do a homoerotic drawing of Jetfire and Starscream for the cover of your story! That'll bring in the chick Starscream lovers for some reason.
I've only got 10 years on you. And while I have rare moments of clarity I unfortunately don't seem to find the actual moments in any given week to act on them.
LMAO!
I was cruising through deviantart one day and came across a pic of Cyclonus & Galvatron kissing and god damn if your conclusion to this isn't right on!
All the girls were loving it and if I didn't know any better by the opinions of the hardcore Transformers fans you'd have thought somebody just bent over their mother right in front of them!
But if I'm feeling taboo I'll do the pic with Jetfire giving Starscream a reach-around and he'll be supporting a shit-eating grin & the revoltech thumbs up. ;-)
Nala, Thanks anyway. I might just look into hosting a blog through the same company that i do my website through. The bonus is that if i do i can create it from scratch myself...
Travis, i would help you but i know absolutely nothing about Mac's at all having never owned one or used one...
Oh and comic related, but people should check out a comic called 'Hope Falls' because it's a pretty good read...
