Bring on the robot penguins!

The always ebullient Mister Evebird alerted me to the fact that pics of movie Scorponok toy are out in the wild now.

I love the alt mode.

Yes. I really love the alt mode.

That's a damn fine robotic scorpion!

Well... it looks a helluva lot better than this at least.

yikes. pretty in alt mode, ugly in bot mode. bot mode reminds me, though, of one of the two k-bots i got as a kid, when we couldn't afford name brand toys. he was a spider.

Hey, c'mon! He shot bees!

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!

Now, did he shoot bees on cybertron, or did he have to genetically scan all his missiles, too?

I modified one of my McSkorponoks to have articulated arms and tail.

Essentially I cut the arms off at the shoulder pads. Next I screwed screws into the shoulder pads. They I dug away at the arm pieces until I had a hole/slit, then I jammed the screw into the hole to make rotating arms.

For the tail I chopped it into segments then threaded a paperclip through the segments.

I also added some black paint details.

It surprisingly greatly improves th toy. I have photos somewhere that I may have to upload to flickr.

Concerning the pictures of Scorponok...

Well i was always taught that if you can't say something nice then to not say anything at all so i'll keep quiet...

everyone blames tomy for the "gay" kiss players. i'm gonna start a trend of blaming galoob for the movie designs.

galoob sounds like a good sound effect for hentai.

Love the claws on that thing... now *those* are the sort of forward-thinking, progressive mechanical / character design that both the movie and the brand could use. Kudos to the designer of those things.

Also, awesome that the tail is articulated as it appears to be... that's gotta be a whole lot of joints.

It's unfortunate though that the rest of the robot seems to suffer... unless it's mistransformed, and I'm just not sure if I can see how that would be possible. It also seems as if there's some sort of spinning chest gimmick, which is interesting - but it also seems to be responsible for the aforementioned robosuck.

Ah, for shame...
