Silly robogeeks. That's Build King... not Devestator in that movie.

I so love watching the robogeek masses go all crazy speculating about rumors of "this" or "that" in the next Bayfest. Most recently here with news that Devestator is confirmed for Bayfest 2: Blurry CGI Boogaloo.

Didn't Bay say he loved spreading misinformation out there because it gets the fan boys' panties all in a knot?

I've heard people say that recent super irrelevant minor Dreamwave character The Fallen is the main bad guy because the title is "Revenge of the Fallen". Um. No. I don't think that'd happen. Funny. But no.

Then again, I think it is just fun to occasionally watch one robogeek's comment or post get people all worked up.

I mean, I know for a fact from my friends at ILM that they've been asked to create a CGI Jesus to put in the movie as Primus' human form and you don't see me bragging about all this info.

Or the fact Shia LeBeuf (or whatever his name is) has a cast on his wrist because he's got a full blown porno jack-off problem in this film as his mother so graciously alluded to in the first film.

I don't share those tidbits with anyone.

The only things that I could say are likely are based off the various leaked photos.

Paramount is not going to waste their initial investment in the Autobot's earth modes so those are the same (so far) for those characters. And obviously, there's a few new vehicle-based characters too.

What I find funny though is how Hasbro might deal with that toy-wise. If the main characters don't get new forms, they can't just re-release the same toys. They already did so many repaints in the first movie line from the same molds!

I'm interested in seeing how they work out the logistics of the business end of shooting this sequel and having to deal with the studio likely calling more of the shots that would affect the toy business.

Then again, I hated that first film so why am I bother even wasting this post on the second one's rumors?

It took 2 seconds on the screen for Bumblebee to change from a 76 car to an 09 model, so I guess the bots can change their disguise easily thus transform into new toys. Probably better than another round of re-repaints.

Hey, wasn't Devastator already in the first movie? Or was that Brawl? Or do I really even care?

That's where you're wrong though. Bumblebee IS going to get updated again to another Camaro similar to the 09 one he had in the first one. It's already been confirmed on Seibertron and they have pics up in the movie section.

Also, the Fallen is not fan speculation. This has been confirmed by a couple of comic book artists who were in talks to work on a couple of prequel comics set to be released right before the next film comes out.
I mean, I get your cynicism to a point and I usually dismiss stuff like that but I believe the artists were telling the truth and are the real deal. Why? There was an article with their revelation that was posted somewhere on MTV's website that was mysteriously edited and/or pulled not too long after it was published. So if the Fallen were bullshit and Bay wanted to spread misinformation wouldn't the article remain unaltered?
So yeah, I think a lot of people who dismissed the Fallen as bullshit are probably going to be eating some crow when the new movie is out.
Now, the ice cream truck that turns into the twin robots, that really has been confirmed to be bullshit. I'll give you that.
BTW, what was the cause of your hate-on for the new movie anyway? I can't remember. Please tell me you aren't one of those guys who is like "IT HAS TO BE A LITERAL TRANSLATION OF G1 OR IT'S AUTOMATICALLY THE WORST THING EVER!" I mean, I love G1 as much as anyone else but I really think it would be stupid if Instruments of Destruction were on the soundtrack and Soundwave was there transforming from a giant robot into a human-sized stereo and the Autobots were 80s sports cars. I mean, the movie had some pretty terrible parts like all of the moments of so-called "comedy" and the over-emphasis on the humans. I will say that the parts that were terrible were really really terrible but on the flip side I'd say that parts that were awesome were really fucking awesome. I mean, it's no brilliant Shakespearian masterpiece, no. But it is the best we're going to get until A) someone like Jon Favreau is given the option to direct a later film in the series or
B) the series survives long enough to get a reboot that is darker and grittier and is closer to the source material of the classic comics.
I, in other words, am no huge fan of Bay or some of the stuff he put in the first movie but I will throw my support behind the sequel because I figure a half-bad half-awesome Transformers movie is better than no Transformers movie or the horrible joke that is the new animated series.

From someone who laughed through the preview showing of the movie during BotCon 07 (that was 07, right?). The movie simply was searching for an audience... it tried (like an increasing percentage of today's movies) to be too many things (action, sci-fi, love story, kids movie, drama, comedy) and failed at all (aside from a promotional piece for the toys.)

And I'll argue Nala's point on the reformatting/new forms for major characters: they're all piles of junk anyway! It doesn't matter what car they fold up into. The bot modes can remain mostly the same.

Car models don't really differ much from one year to the next unless there's a huge cosmetic redesign, and that's not going to happen with the new Camaro. I will find it hilarious if the only change to Bumblebee's next vehicle mode is a different grill.

I remember Furman and Mowry confirming the Fallen and then those interviews being edited later. I personally believe this is all cleverly crafted hype and the Fallen leaks are nothing but a practical joke. Furman's a professional who gets paid to keep secrets. With his massive geek cred is there anyone better to spread false leads in the robodork world than Simon Furman?

"The movie was aimed at .... guys that like shit that blow up."

That's me!!!
