C'mon! Gimme some Unit 2 love!

So I saw the two "Theft of the Golden Disks" videos over at Transformersclub.com.

Not bad at all.

Cool that David Kaye dropped some Beast Megs down too.

What's funny?

Comments on YouTube.

Stuff like "Still the animation was god awful. Honestly the original series looked and animated better and it was made in the mid 90s." blows my mind.

It isn't frigg'n Mainframe doing this.

This is fandom at its finest with people working their asses off on something like this.

Those are the kinds of comments where I want to punch people in the pussy.

Maybe they'll do some more and we'll get a little Unit 2.

Botcon 2006 Attendee Exclusive Unit 2 (Tigatron)

I loves me some Unit 2.

Oh. And he's love too. Love. Love. Love.

Poor naive noobish little Nala,i have done 3D animation, and this? this was crap with a capital C. i like the fact that they filled a story line gap though.

Noob? Bwahahahah! Hardly.

I have a degree in animation, though my work in 3D was all done prior to 1993 so it was extremely primitive due to the technology available to us at OSU.

Call it crap if you will... but some fan, regardless of the tools they had available, the skills they had, and the time they had, did this for the sole reason to make it exist!

It isn't exactly like this shit creates itself.

Funny though. I completely ended up working in industries totally outside what I went to undergrad and grad school for.

If this were done in like,1998,it would have been ok. but they didn't even bother rendering it. Whitch is very easy to do with current day programs (even free trial versions). My only complain though, was that they didn't bother writing anything for the camera aspects. The characters couldn't even be seen for a full second before they got too hard to see due to the crap lighting used or the zooming to a different character or object.

I don't see what everybody's griping about. That looks pretty good to me, not having a degree in animation. If a fan did that, that's awesome.

Of course, if any other fan wants to do better and screen it to the masses, I will gladly call "crap" on this one.

Basically, to everyone bitching about how this is poorly done, I have five words:

Let's See You Do Better.

C'mon. Do it. Make a CG film. I fucking dare you, wise guy. Get on it. You have a year to do it, and you have to do the models and the animation by yourself. Fucking go for it.

And if you do, good luck roping David Kaye into it.

Judd Nelson has promised me that he'll do the book-on-cd reading of my Splintered when it is finished.

Take that Transfandom!

What did it take to secure the silent but deadly partner to Ice-T in New Jack City?

A book of coupons to McDonald's and an 8-ball?

The question I have is what was Rhinox, Waspinator, RatTrap, and Dinobot called before they came to have those beast forms? I clearly saw Dinobot there somewhere in that cartoon.

I thought it was pretty good. You do the best you can with the resourced you have and I think its wonderful. :)
