Spring? So it is true.

Well indeed it looks like the GRC is in Spring which pretty much means I don't see myself attending unless it is within 2-3 hours drive of Cowtown.

The funny thing is though I'm feeling that moving this to yet another time of year (3 different seasons in 3 years) isn't exactly going to do much to instill the general sense of "convention time" that most cons really have.

I mean, for various geekage you can easily say "con time" and the major con of each geekage is pretty much a known quantity without the variables of shifting time.

I can't see the San Diego Con ever changing time frames nor even the lowly Mid-Ohio Con which I no longer attend.

We'll have to see.

I'm getting too old for this shit anyway.

And while I don't really like to do the fan-insane predictions of figures, I'm thinking that the promo image implies more Classics stuff. Don't you think?

It looks like TF is finally getting around to cribbing the EVIL MIRROR UNIVERSE storyline.

I will buy these if, and only if, every single one of them has a goatee.

Doesn't every single piece of sci-fi need an EVIL MIRROR UNIVERSE storyline?!?!?

I mean, we so need an evil black Prime again.

Seriously though, I'd love a Bizarro-Prime purely for the annoyance such a character would bring back to Megatron.

WTF. So, 2009 will be January, at this rate. Let's hope this one's in driving distance.

I'm all for Flexo-Prime, though. That would kind of kick ass.

So far speculation from the image we can guess its Classics Prime (Nemesis Prime anyone?), The Cybertron Crosswise mold, and the Cyberton Hot Shot mold. Guessing the symbols will be inverted in color.

Don't know could be interesting to see what's chosen. Attendance will depend on the time and date.

I'd like to see exactly how they'd mount a goatee on a faceplate. . .

Little black triangle on the bottom?

Shit, I think I'd actually buy that sheerly for the novelty value.

Seriously though, would it be too much to ask that if they are going to continue to Classic's repaints (which is okay in my book) then they get back to rounding out some of the other characters?

Hell, they could learn a lesson from Jin and rework Energon Shockblast.

And then only make 1,400 of him.

With two left arms.

It'll be great!

Don't know if I could stomach another whinefest of popular characters made into Botcon set. It was the best selling set to date but also the most bemoaned among non club fans.

I think this idea is interesting without being the absolute MUST HAVE for completionistic fans not willing to pay for the club.

I'm more curious if we'll see 5 of each faction, it will make a much larger incentive to get all 10 figures released that year.

On PAPER, I like the 2005 concept the best - telling random stories from around the TF universe, giving us a mix of desired newer molds as older guys and some new dudes as well.

I actually quasi-drew up proposals for two convention sets, but never did anything with them. One was a Junkion-themed set, using the G2 Laser Cycles and the now played-out E-Arcee as Junkion warriors, with Sideways (C-Ransack in Sideways colors) attempting to foment dissent by putting up a rival for Wreck-Gar's throne, the mighty Humongous (A-Sideways). Wreck-Gar would be a slightly remolded Lugnutz, of course. Too bad they used half of those molds for the 'con already.

The other one was a faux-noir detective story, with Nightbeat and Siren (played here by E-Hot Shot with a new head for Nightbeat) facing off against Black Shadow and Blue Bacchus (the smaller E-Megatron and Bulkhead, respectively). A and E Demolishor would be used as gang thug types.

Oh well.

-hx, I know some people were clamoring for a "Space Pirates" set, too...

So how many hours is Cincinnati from Cowtown? The official "GRC" site has posted the long-awaited time & place as Cincinnati, OH April 24-28, 2008.

Be sure to expect me, along with my loyal band of drunken retards, to be in attendance. That being said, it just wouldn't be the same without you.

...thoughts?

More Classics as Botcon exclusives??
Frack.

Hasbro will probably release Sunstorm (repaint of Classics Starscream) to piss off the seeker fans one last time.

Sorry - meant to add: release Sunstorm as a Botcon exclusive as well.
