GRC in Ohio!

Well...

Looks like Nala will be going to the Gay Robot Convention after all!

I never expected it to be this close!

There's nothing quite like a 90 minute drive.

I may even have the Nala Mystery Machine by then.

But April. What the hell is up with that.

I'm considering it I'll still have to fly down. Big thing is I have to factor in travel cost, food and lodging while there.

Of all my geeky friends I'm the only one interested in GRCs in the least.

On the fence about it right now.

oooh...i just moved to cincinnati.

perhaps now my botcon hymen can be torn asunder!

as soon as i saw it i thought of you! :D man, i wish i could go, but i think i really lucked out last year, and it might have to wait for another time...maybe someone can get some goodies for me there.... ;)

Maybe we should ALL go...just for shits and giggles.

Hey, Maybe I should try to go for once. I could always stay with my aunt instead of in the hotel though driving back and forth 90 minutes each day doesn't sound fun.

Ha ha! I can't believe how convenient this is. I may even try to set up dinner with E&L and JK while we're down there.

I think it would be cool for Kel and Max to finally see the insanity up-close-and-personal, but I'm sure they'd be bored out of their skulls in no time. (hell, I'm bored most of the time anyway, but the drinking makes it better.)

And Ikea Cincinnati should be done by then, so not only can you buy toys, but also (possibly) shelves for toys.

Same here. As soon as I saw that I thought "Nala won't be able to get out of the GRC this year."

Ah well. I wouldn't be able to go to Botcon if they held it in my backyard. Even if I had the money, I'd rather spend it on a new guitar or something.

My wallet would like to thank Hasbro for having Botcon away from Florida (where I'm located.)

I'll be spending enough on the TF Animated toys and Megacon held in Orlando, anyways.

But I am happy for you, Nala. I know if it was in my backyard, I'd end up going and spending more money than I should on toy robots.

Sounds like a plastic crack get-together! :)

You could finally do Uddercon and then invade the GRC as a roving gang of malcontents.

I forgot how straight American roads were! I'd do that in an hour if there was a road like that here!

:oS

*Realises he's admitted to the world in general that he's a terminal speedster...*

M.

What kind of sucks is that I was hoping that it would be too much of a pain in the ass to go to. It truly is too convenient to miss though being so close.

And honestly, I could save money by staying with JK-Not Rowling and not the hotel but honestly, part of the fun is wasting days on the premises with Tom and so many other. I mean... it results in such classic drunken ranting. It wouldn't be the same having to drive to and from the con to a house.

Mark: I had kind of hoped to miss the con so I could travel to San Francisco this year as well as London to see Max Power's sister (newly married to a Brit). So much money to travel. *sigh*

kelmeister: Giga and I said yesterday that we should convince you and Max to at least come down for one day as walk-ins to immerse yourself with the geekage that you have only lived vicariously through in my pictures and video.

However...if you were to stay overnight, you'd probably have a lot of fun as well.

Nala, if you would be so kind as to promise many drunken ramblings, I would be all over that.

DID SOMEBODY SAY BEAST WARS?

I don't know but somebody shoulda say Car Robots!

kelmeister: You and me and my friend Jack Daniels baby! At least one evening.

I tend to only have 1 evening of insane drinking and then I'm back on the wagon mostly. I'm too old to do the heavy drinking thing.

Botcon 2008 ... hmm, if a bunch of you folks go, I may try and convince my wife to let me "come out and play" too ....

It'd be nice to finally meet some of you.

Plus, I owe Nala a few beers for his efforts in getting me Huffer & Springer from this year's con.
Thanks again dude!

I've been talking about this with some of my pals - Savage is actively trying to run off the college crowd in lieu of the big-ticket die hard collector types, who will show up no matter what and will buy the entire giant shebang package. He doesn't WANT Glen-style numbers, he just wants the sure thing guys.

"invade the GRC as a roving gang of malcontents" -- don't we do that anyway???

I can see what Hooper's saying. With the new movie they probably fear the idea of a mass of "new" fans pouring in and clogging the area while not really participating and consuming due to costs.

Anyway, I'll have to wait for pricing but I stand a decent chance of going for once.
