I don't know why but if Hasbro is limiting Botcon to the Classics molds, which would totally suck, I have a feeling that we'll end up with a Nemesis Prime out of the Optimus Mold.
I don't know why.
Maybe it was the recently unveiled logo.
Don't get me wrong.
It is a good mold.
But I've got no excitement for what Botcon may offer this year as exclusives.
I guess these repaints and minor retools just don't hold much excitement anymore.
I'm also finding myself throwing toys around the attic without a concern in the world that they could break. That's a new development in me.

My problem with using these molds (other than we're likely getting the seekers I want, ASSHOLES). is what will the make from them?
There's supposed to be 5 exclusives. Potential ideas I can see, none of which seem all that good.
Nemeis Prime
Thundercracker (DO IT AND DIE JERKS)
Thrust (DO IT AND DIE JERKS)
Dirge (DO IT AND DIE JERKS)
"Show Colors" Astrotrain
Maybe Classics Bumper or Hubcap from Bumblebee
There's always Sunstorm.
There's just kind of a weak assortment of molds for repainting. One person suggested G2 colored versions but why? G1 colors are all ulgy as hell.
Now I did come up with a nice list of "Classics from old molds". Things like Huffer from Armorhide and Overhaul as Brawn and maybe Hound from that Energon jeep I always forget the name of.
Well, I wouldn't put too much concern into the logo for the Con. Last year we had Sideswipe and he had nothing to do with the set.
I'm still thinking that we will get A/E/C figures repainted to look like G1s and go along well with the current Classics figs.
I'm not buying anymore classics until it's all over. Skywarp in an exclusive 2 pack at a chain that hardly carries it's own exclusives? The fact that the last "news" related to classics was Ramjet and red Bumblebee? I get the feeling that this is going to end up like my 2002 Masters of the Universe collection.
Sorry, but I need a Classics Thundercracker.
Hate me if you want.
So do I...

Throwing your crack around huh. Why is it that obsessions (hobbies for those unwilling to admit it) seem to run hot or cold. You never seem to hear about someone just sort of doing something. I'm listening to the Orchid Theif right now and it's funny how every single person Susan Orlean comes across in the orchid world is obsessed or quitting cold turkey. No casual collectors.
Hell I found myself in a bidding war on eBay the other night for 1 pack of D&D Lazer Blazers stickers, just four little hologram stickers. I forced myself to quit at $15 which might not sound like a lot, but damn, it's just four stickers.
Anyway, maybe the Botcom exclusive will be a more accurate repaint of Megs, all black and grey and red. Hell I even second the Thundercracker.
It's not gonna be just Classics toys. It will be a mix. However, one of the Hartman brothers pretty much said "Don't worry, the Decepticon ranks will be filled out in the Classics line," implying that BotCon has some seeker exclusives coming our way. Will it piss off a portion of collectors? You bet. More than the super-insanely-rare-but-easily-predictable-hit-toy pre-Beast Wars Megatron? That remains to be seen.
As for the other exclusives this year, FP didn't specify that only Classics toys would be used. So I think there's a very good chance of Beachcomber, Seaspray, Alpha Trion, etc. based on Cybertron molds. In any event, it will probably be a stricly G1 set.
Whatever the case, I beg them, please no more Nemesis Convoy.
I think we can all agree;
Getting more Seekers == good,
Botcon-exclusive Seekers == not good.
Unless it transpires that the additional seekers are going to be drawn from those wonderful non-name characters so prevalent in the first G1 episodes.
Then again, we could get the Real Gear camera fellow repainted as Reflector, so who only knows.
I agree that repainting A/E/C characters to match the Classics line isn't such a bad idea, providing they apply the same sort of critical thinking and high level of remolding present in last years proto-Beast Wars set.
As has been commented; Cyb. Armorhide is just begging for a Huffer / Pipes redeco; a show-accurate Astrotrain would also be a hit. And there is, of course, the whole aforementioned Vector Prime / A3 business...
I must agree with Nala though. No more by-the-book repaints would be a welcome change...
Getting more Seekers == good,
Botcon-exclusive Seekers == not good.
I second that ....
