Botcon in Lexington KY

Ok. Good.

Now I know what Jeremy's IM was about last night.

I just found an email from Master Collector stating that Botcon 2006 will be held in Lexington, KY!!!

That means we can drive and save a shitload of money.

I can't handle more than 3 hours in a car and at 180 miles or so, Lexington will fall right into the tolerance of my driving/riding range.

Hell. Giga may even want to experience TF geekdom at its finest (and so often lowest).

I'm sooooo happy that it isn't going to be in Fresno again. That cost so much extra just to get to and from the airport that I could have bought 4 more toys!!!

I am also intrigued by the fact that this is within driving distance.

Is attendance worth it from a G1 toy/accessory buying perspective, or am I better served sitting home and spending half as much money on eBay?

I have little interest in the panels or activities, as real live geeks scare me in person. The "comic store" crowd makes my skin crawl.

Well, the past 2 years since I've attended have been heavy on G1. In fact, I'd hazard a guess that it is probably in the 50% range at least.

The crowd is ok. Yeah. There are a lot of people that I can't relate to.

However, I met some great people from California, Cleveland, and New York last year that I ended up hanging around and drinking with so it turned out great.

Personally, I couldn't give a shit about another Simon Furman panel or a voice actor one. Those are the same things over and over and over and over and over and the geekage askes the exact same questions over and over and over and over.

That gets really old.

Where would you be coming from?

Here's some of my photos from 2004 and 2005.

So since my route would have me driving through Columbus I was wondering if you (and others down your way) would be up for carpooling once I hit Columbus. Or if not that, maybe planning our trip down and back so that I would have someone else on the highway with me. I'll have the Element so there is room for 3 and plenty of room for luggage and purchases. We can discuss more in the future.

Jeremy: We can no doubt work something out. If you are willing to drive I'm sure we can all contribute to gas and such.

I'm just so happy about the airfare this will save!!!

Oh hell yes, it will save much on airfare. And I won't have to worry about what I buy because I won't have to fit it into a suitcase.

I think it would take less than 4 tanks of gas (probably closer to 3) to go from Cleveland to Lexington and back and that should only cost around $100. And parking is free at the hotel. So driving will make this trip much more affordable.

I might ask one of you guys to drive the Element for part of the trip at least since I don't do long distance driving that well.

I am also in Cleveland. Is there are Official Ohio Transformers and Beer Club? Why have I not been notified.

Thanks for the picks, Nala. Are you the guy in the Hot Rod suit?

I kid.

Ack! I forgot about the Hot Rod suit.

Though I think my favorite had to be the rather heavy set girl dressed as one of the 2nd wave Seekers.

Yea, those seekers were "unique" :-)

Unfortunately, Nala is too tall to have been that Hot Rod.

Alex, where abouts in Cleveland are you?
