Actually, not a bad idea at all.
Of course, then I'd feel like I was giving out dirty violent comics to kids which would then make me feel just as bad as keeping the damn things around in the first place.

give them...SPAWN COMICS! >:-)
When I was like 15 or 16 we went out Trick or Treating for Halloween. By "we" I mean me and like 5 other guys. Two of them were dressed in real police uniforms that one had "borrowed" from their vacationing cop dad. The rest of us went in street clothes and had decided we were "their perps".
We actually got candy from pretty much every house. Probably fear of TP.
Anyway, the house owned by the comic shop owner was giving away comics.
Great!
So we went back repeatedly. The third time he gave us a larger stack and told us if we came back he was calling the police.
Most of the comics were garbage though.
So long as they're neither Byrne FF or Simonson THor comics..00000000000000000030202333. (long string of numbers provided by Ronin Knott, son of a good friend, aged less than one, who has no command of the English language but sure likes keyboards.)
Nala:
You seem keen to get rid of the excess comics. Why not donate them to a library? A lot of libraries have comic-book collections. Mine does.
You might be a little jaded with comics at this point, but a lot of people aren't, and your old books might bring somebody a lot of fun down there in the collection. At worst, they'll just try to sell them at a book sale and raise some money that way.
Right?

Oh yeah, I get that kind of trick-or-treater. That's why I buy orange & black peanut-butter chews. You know the type. Little kids get the good stuff.
(Well, that, and I like orange & black peanut-butter chews).
