Sorta-maybe-kinda good news on my new house front.
My realtor talked to the other and I've upped my offer substantially to $4K less than asking. I'm going to throw part of my savings into the house too to bring the mortgage down to where it will be more manageable. I didn't want to, but this house will not only be my home but will truly be an investment in terms of the neighborhood it is in. I have to look at dropping into the savings as a positive thing here.
Regardless of what comes out of this, the one thing I can honestly say is the TF geekage not only has to be cut down to only things I deem worthy enough to buy, it also means I will have to get rid of things to help pay for some of the remodeling and work on the new house.
So.
That great crack purge I've come so close to doing for a long time?
It may happen sooner than I ever thought!

So this means that as far as you guys know, no one at the open house yesterday put in bids?
So...the big question is....will you let the collection hit 2000 then sell stuff off? or sell stuff off and hold off on hitting 2000? 2000 is supposed to mark the burning of much crack.......
What will Nala do? ..........
Kel: The other realtor said there was interest, but apparently no bids yet. And also that while some of those people had houses on the market, none of them were completely in contract and so close to closing like the House of Love. Since my mortgage finances are in such perfect shape and I'm preapproved I'm likely the best option right now.
I couldn't up my offer though if a bidding war were to ensue. I just don't have enough resources at the moment. This is already more than I really wanted to spend.
Spectroscott: Hopefully 2000 will show up in the mail soon. It has been on order for some time now.
I will venture a guess and say BT Mirage.
Have you thought about renting for a year while house prices go down?
House prices won't go down in the area I want to live in.
This is the opportunity. I have to make it work right now.
Renting would just delay everything and I'm getting too old to rent.
You wouldn't believe the money I'd naturally spend on fixing up even a property I don't even own.
It is sick!
Geez- you must be dealing with some pretty unreasonably stubborn sellers when they don't jump at asking price minus $4k in this market!!!
Good luck!
