This and that in the world of plastic crack.

So on top of MP Megs and Revoltech Convoy in the queue I decided to take advantage of JRS Toysworld's current 15% off orders of $50 or more to snag a few things I wanted.

I picked up that TakaraTomy 10th Anniversary Re-Issues of TM-06 Black Widow, TM-03 Cheetas, and TM-05 Dinobot.

I will now have almost a perfect set of show-appearing accurately colored Beast Wars characters!

This picture pretty much sold me on the Black Widow!

Those are the exact three I'm getting by UPS tomorrow. Then I caved and ordered the Prime and Megatron (I don't have the RM counterparts) with Revoltech Prime and Megatron.

I suppose I'm making up for lost time. But I know you also have the original Blackarachnia, and the combination of the purple face and neon green shoulders just sucks. Also, Dinobot finally has his grimace! I decided as a BW fan I couldn't pass these up.

Wait a sec? THAT version of Dinobot has a face?

Click on the link Nala so helpfully provided.

Wow, I thought the Hasbro 10th anniversary reissues were a huge improvement over the originals. Yet somehow, these Takara versions are still a huge improvement over the Hasbro reissues!

That they are. That they are.

Leave it to Takara to take it to 11.

Sure. It is 10 years late. But whattaya do?

McBeardo: I figure the Takara 10th Anniversary retools are good enough for me.

Alas, I paid too much for the Giftset and then rebought the Hasbro versions because I never figured they'd be released here.

Frowny: I can't go to the link, my employer's web filter blocks jrstoyworld as "hobbies." I can't even access all the wonderful pictures Nala always posts, because flickr is "personal photo storage." Stupid web filters.

However, I did confirm that THIS version of Dinobot has an actuall mouth, which sucks because now I'm going to have to plunk down $25.00 bucks to get one. Thank GOD most of the other ones look the same as the Hasbro versions (and if they don't, I don't wanna hear about it because my pocketbook couldn't handle it.)

Dang, your employer sucks. If you're looking for cast members, the only essentials are BA and Dinobot. I don't see that much of a difference between Hasbro Waspinator and Takara Waspinator, and 10th anniversary Cheetor is a pretty good likeness, but the shiny headed Takara version overpowered my sensibilities. There's still a Rhinox and a Tigatron on the way, but I don't see them producing a much better paint job than 10th anniversary Rhinox, and I have the original Takara Tigatron which was really close to the animation model.

Yeah, I'm a big sucker for Beast Wars. And even Beast Machines after Nala convinced me to give the series a second look.

Well I'm a fan of the Beast Machines fiction. Can't say I like maybe more than 10% of the toys really.

Well, you have a point there. But I still like the Blackarachnia toy a lot.

Yeah. She, Air Attack Optimus Primal, and maybe Thrust are about as good as you can get in terms of converting a toy from the animation.

However, the awful Megatron sucks no matter what you do to it.

I'd love to see a kitbash of a real Transmetal-2 Megatron to look like he did in Beast Machines.

Probably b'c I've never seen the show, but I just ain't excited about these Beast War re-issues.

Meh.

OHMYGOD!!!! You must go out and immediately buy Seasons 1-3 of Beast Wars and then Seasons 1-2 of Beast Machines!!!

It is the best TF fiction ever done!!!

Seriously, Beast Wars is one of those cartoons I don't find embarassing to be obsessed about.

The Japanese sequels, not so much.

I was talking about the CARTOONS. You know how much I love the BWNeo toys. I've been trying to convince you to get a Heinlad for at least a year!

Have you ever sat through an episode of BWNeo? (Dubs are available at thetfcog.com) It's like that anime I saw when I was a kid ("The Green Forest") where they turn into robots. Pretty much just kitsch appeal.

Woah, woah! Beast Wars was cool - but the great leaps it made in TF fiction (specifically, a lack of idiotic plot holes and stupid episode MacGuffins) were, I felt, held back slightly by the inclusion of possibly some of the whiniest characters ever introduced into the TF-verse.

I'm sorry, but some part of me will always accept Starscream's nasally shrieks over Optimus Emo and the carefully-calculated rebelliousness of Cheetor. :)

Having said that; loved Tarantulus.
