Ultimate Bumblebee

Hasbro's got some official stuff up about Transformer film toys finally.

I find it immensely funny how this information is "officially" revealed but of course, there have been so many leaked images of prototypes, in package toys, and other unofficial news over the past 5 months.

The internets has pretty much destroyed surprises in the geek collector realm.

However, one item does stand out that I can't recall having read about before:

There will be an Ultimate Bumblebee!

Hasbro says...

In car mode, BUMBLEBEE is an approximately 1/14 scale CAMARO concept with realistic car features. By rolling the vehicle you activate headlights and revving engine sounds. Stopping activates taillights and screeching brakes or crashing sounds

After you manually convert the car to robot mode, BUMBLEBEE stands an impressive 14” tall. With the touch of a button, robotic BUMBLEBEE comes to “life” with speech, music – featuring DEVO’s “Whip It”, battle and conversion sounds and fully animated head, arms and wings. BUMBLEBEE’s sound detection capabilities enable him to respond to noise, and he can also automatically aim and fire a missile.

Look the ULTIMATE BUMBLEBEE at retail this Fall for the suggested retail price of $89.99,,,

Wow! $90 is one helluva high price point.

It sounds like it could be a great figure but it is sad that it isn't in scale with the Binaltech and Alternators.

There's only one adjustment I'll need to make to transform him into bot mode:

There.

Much better.

The heck with the new movie toys. I was holding out hope that we might see another wave of Classics figures--Cosmos, Galvatron, etc. that were mentioned as possible figures if sales warranted. Maybe in 08??

Ohhhhhhh, I really wanted that Cosmos Classic toy. Looked the Dog's Bollocks...

M.

I could almost get onboard with the movie characters, if it wasn't for the faces. It continues to infuriate me - not that they are so far removed from the originals - but that the design is so *lazy*.

Ooh, ooh, Mister Bay, sir! Are they aliens, sir? Then we'll make them look like insects, sir! That's what we always do when we need to pull aliens out of our ass, sir!

Sorry, far too disgruntled. ^_^

More TF Classics? I hope so, yes, please!!! Only no BotCon exclusives, seeing as I can't go.

As for the TF toys, I dislike most of 'em, but plan on getting a few: Ratchet, Blackout & that white armour personnel carrier guy (can't remember his name). They look decent.

Agree about the faces though, they look like S--- IMHO.

DL: I'm willing to let Ironhide's go; it might not be what we're used to, but it looks grizzled and has been put together pretty well.

Bumblebee though... words fail me. And I'm not too happy about the way they've reversed the colours on the lower-portion of Prime's face, either. The rest of them are just... blurgh.

I don't know; I understand where they were going with this idea of alien robots, but I can't help but think of the overwhelming resemblance to General Sarris...

Bumble-Sapien. That's all he is. He will, at that price point, be a shelf-warming slag.

Well somebody has to keep Supremescream company...
