Well...

Well I might as well get this out of the way because someone will no doubt email me on it.

Some leaked pics of some of the movie toys have come out.

I can only repeat what Evebird said to me about them because he and I seem to be of one mind on these: We'll be saving a ton of money in 2007!

And I'm the one that tends to buy anything that crosses my path.

Fugly... I could actually pull myself to buy one these if the faces weren't so ugly.

Man I really hope classics last pass this movie line as I will devote my money there instead.

barricade is not that bad i think? but the head design's are what bug me the most

No shit. I'm already looking forward to putting my money towards the Alts and G1 guys I'm missing.

Also that irritating Minimates habit I seem to have picked up.

Next year is looking to be a good year, good but cheap because so far i ain't buying any of the movie figures...

Frowny, RUN!!! Run while you still can because that Minimate habit you've picked up will quickly turn into an addiction before you know it...

Although saying that, the Rock 'Mates are pretty cool...

It's the head designs I can't get past... No shelf space for these.

M.

Too late. My brain has already been removed and replaced with a difference engine run by 2" semi-generic action figures in the likenesses of some of my favorite comics characters. Honestly, after collecting Beast Wars Neo stuff for a while it's nice to get figures where I can get 5 for $10. Better use of my money than minicons, as far as I'm concerned.

Micromasters are another story. One day I will own a Big Daddy.

Good lord... I didn't exactly have the highest hopes for this line, but I am utterly underwhelmed by the mediocrity of these toys.

Such a promising premise - Alternator-realistic vehicle modes combined with kid-friendly robustness.

And instead we have Bumbletron / Furblebee...

I imagine the real proof will be how well these things sell. Are they going to far exceed the sales numbers of Armada, or are they more likely relegated to the same limbo the Fantastic Four figures occupied? (too adult for the children, to childish for the adults.)

I think the thing that gets me is, a lot of us were hoping that the toys would be much better than the onscreen versions, because of a need to keep things simple. Doesn't look like that worked out quite as planned...

Having said all of this - is it me, or do these guys have more than a passing resemblance to the RID Car Brother aesthetic? That might please a few people. ^_^

Minimates unfortunately have the habit of starting with one or two and before you know it you're hooked on them. I started with just Spider-man & Carnage and now my desk is absolutely filled with them and other block figures :-/

Dunno if this is cool or not but check http://www.minimatemultiverse.com for all things Minimate, it's a very friendly, helpful board and the more the merrier, tell 'em Bruticus sent you ;-)

I'm a total Car Robots/RID loser and I don't think so.

The Autobot Brothers are more shell formers in the spirit of a lot of the Beast-era designs.

Sideburn and X-Brawn, sure, but I was always impressed with the way Prowl transformed. His kibble never bothered me. He's one of the few TFs that I have multiples of the same mold for.

Hmm, you know, I can see what you mean.

Actually, thinking about it now, I'm convinced that these guys probably graduated from the University of Armada Red Alert...
