Yeah. I've seen the first real teaser trailer to the movie.

And all I can say is it looks and smells like a Michael Bay movie.

That much is certain.

Hm. Bumblebee's head looks kind of like Waspinator. I didn't pay too much attention to the rest, what with crap blowing up.

Ashamed to admit it, but I typically enjoy Bay's flicks for what they are: mindless, popcorn rollercoaster-rides. I loved "The Rock" and "Bad Boys 1 and 2".

But I'm not too excited about the upcoming TF movie. I hate the TF designs and I managed to read the script and was really letdown by the plot. Based on scenes in the trailer, it looks like the leaked screenplay I read was pretty accurate. A shame.

OK, the figures look like big, fat piles of crap and the concept pictures we've seen so far REALLY don't look good but i'm still reserving final judgement until i've actually seen the movie...

Lets be honest here, i think we'll all go and see it anyway no matter how we feel about it because our curiosity will just get the better of us and force us into the seats...

And yeah, you can always put it to one side that it's Transformers and just try to watch it as giant robots blowing crap up. (In theory a sound idea but it might prove to be a ;ittle bit harder to put into practice)

After looking at the trailer it looks like it's more about the humans than the tf's

Certain things I can understand... the human-centric worldview, the need for more complex transformations, etc.

But then again, it just looks like Hollywood did TFs... right down to the opener with the crashing 'meteor'; an awfully generic sequence. If one were to edit those seconds into Men In Black, would anyone notice the discrepency?

And for each cool scene of tanks being positively thrown across the screen (cool) we have to deal with the hackneyed cliches of "Oh noes, monsters!"

On the bright side, the brief second we saw of Bumblebee made him actually look halfway ass-kicking decent. Shame the sequence of him and his fellow Autobots in convoy brought back terrible memories of Team Knight Rider...

JOP: Holy crap... it lasted all of a second and I felt the same about the convoy scene. It was such a Knight Rider/California desert/cheap to film shot!

Damn, if I could edit video, I would totally redo teh trailer as a Knight Rider opening.

Nala: Yeah - they do something visually impressive, like the Blackout EMP effect... irregardless of where that actually fits into the TF mythos, it looks great - and angle of the shot is great.

Then the follow it up with, you nailed it, a cheap-ass 'California desert' shot! I felt the same way about that bloody meteoresque touchdown...

BTW, my wife thinks that one guy in the control tower is unintentionally hilarious. ^_^ "Come out... or WE WILL KILL YOU." Those US military people sure don't mince words, do they?

I didn't like it. But I'm positive it'll make money.

It has nothing to do with anything we've recognized as Transformers for the past 20 years. More like Robot Jox meets the Masters of the Universe movie. OK, maybe not that awful but I think you get the point.

JOP: you noticed that too huh? I thought it was just me the way no one said anything.

Me I dont like it as a Transformers movie (not that I enjoy anything Micheal Bay's done) But as a general sci fi movie eh.. maybe 10 bucks maybe? no way. 10 more bucks I can spend on the Classics line thank you much. ON dvd in less then 3-4 months I garantee lol :P

Well I just typed out a 3 paragraph diatribe rattling about the ignorance of preconceived notions and the consequences of negative opinions. But I thought better of it and deleted it.

I was just irritated cause I just saw the trailer myself and I was all excited and my anticipation was high and then I keep reading all these posts ripping it apart.

I guess Im just one of the weird ones. When I see a new Transformer or something Transformers related I turn into a 10 year old kid again. Same wonderment, same giddiness, no expectations, just good old-fashioned excitement. Watching that trailer was like the first time I saw the Transformers the Movie trailer back in 1986.

They're toys. Dont give a flying rip who Michael Bay is and what he's done before, dont obsess over what you think a Transformer is SUPPOSED to be or look like. For God's sake, be a kid again and watch the trailer again as if you were a 10 year old and just enjoy it. If your too old to do that... :sigh: sell your TOYS and get on with your Adulthood.

And BTW: Irregardless is not a word. (^^;)

I finally rewatched it from the actual movie site and larger.

I like the Peter Cullen line but that's obviously aimed directly at TF fans.

I just don't know if the Cullen voice works with this new redesign of Prime at all.

I still think Dan Gilvezan would be perfect for this new Bumblebee.

Wow. Sorry n01zguy, but there's just no way to unwatch Armageddon. (which was all I could think at the trailer opening. "So, I really like meteors. Can we work those in somewhere?") And there's no way to unhate Josh Duhamel or Tyrese Gibson. (I was unfortunate enough to see 2 Fast 2 Furious, and I've suffered through copious episodes of Las Vegas because a friend of mine is obsessed with Nikki Cox.) Believe me, I understand the "feeling like I'm 8 all over again" thing, as my boss (who, being a board game fanatic, often accompanies me on my trips to TRU) has often mocked me for the look I get in my eye when I find something new. And unlike you (and August Pollock of xoverboard.com) it just didn't happen for me with the trailer. It made me think "Wow, another special effects wank that will contain minimal substance, terrible acting, and worse one liners than Joel Schumacher's Batman films!" Like Jurassic Park II. . .

In the end, my opinion doesn't matter. It's going to make money, I have no doubts about that. And it's not going to kill my obsession, that's for sure. I mean no disrespect, I just can't care about it at all and I'm a little insulted that not caring means I should sell my toys. Some geewunners still don't like Beast Wars, which is my favorite piece of TF storytelling. Does that mean they should sell their collections because they're living in the past? I don't want to make up their minds for them. . .

Do you hear that sound in the distance?

That's the internets breaking.

hahah get teh ducttape lets fix it!
Hey n10zguy dude chill think happy thoughts. It ok that you like the movie. Go you. no one here is trying to make you hate it. And you cant make anyone who's already decided its not for them like it so get over it. Thats just how it is. I'm sure you have directors that you don't like and you don't see their movies. ^^ Thats ok. Micheal Bay is just not some people's style. I don't care for Tyrese either bleh isn't he playing a commanding officer? buhahah *sniff* i'm sorry that was hilarious.
Frowny McBeard .. i love you.

Round 2 Fan Boy ..Fiiiight!
lol

Frowny: ZOMG, you referenced Robot Jox! Seriously though, the guy that was behind the (low-budget puppet-driven) SFX on that movie was Ron Thornton, who later went on to do the awesome Babylon 5 stuff.

I would TOTALLY have marked out with him on board for this movie, because he's one of those guys that can mix realism and adventure, Robot Jox notwithstanding.

lilfrenzy: "COME OUT OR WE WILL KILL YOU" is totally my new favourite meme.

Nala: Eh, least that new Empire pic looks better, huh? I'm beginning to think that one of two prophecies are coming true:

(a) This movie is, uh, poop.
(b) This movie could be amazing but Bay et al have refused to show the fans anything of any substance; consequently, the fans cynically expect poop.
