Ok. I've been going on lately about the miscellaneous flotsam and jetsam of Transformers crap that is being produced. Sure, most of it is movie related but there's still a ton of G1-inspired product that just keeps getting churned out.
Now exactly who is the audience for a$300 G1 Transformer Chess Set?
For $300 you can get a Takara G1 Star Saber or even a Victory Leo. $300 buys you a helluva lot of actual Transformers if you want. I just turned down buying a lot of Headmaster and Pretenders for that!
Now what would be cool is if they'd make the pieces available for purchase individually for say $6 a piece.
I wouldn't think twice about dropping that on the Shockwave piece, the rook of the set.
They all kind of look like PVC-ish anyway and Takara unfortunately never made a Shockwave PCV, must to the dismay of the world.
Oh.
And I can only imagine how dreadful it will be to end up at the Gay Robot Convention and see adults with this on.
Like I said yesterday, 2007 is going to be a bad year for the adult Transformers collector.
Maybe it will indeed be the ideal time to kick this habit of mine.

Nala, maybe you shouldn't go to Botcon. The off chance some greasy guy who needs very badly to get bitchslapped will show up with one of those helmets and the Megatron Club shirt at the same time. . .
. . . well, you may see red and wake up three hours later clutching bloody strips of Megatron shirt.
That's the $300 chess set? Man that sucks very much. I'm really liking the sculpts. Part of me wishes some of them were part of the Titanium line.
You know if they make the Mega-Vagina helmet/voice changer, MightyLegs will buy it.
OH! If I EVER see someone there with this helmet and I hear the words "I AM OPTIMUS PRIME!" IM gonna scream back, "NO YOURE NOT! YOU'RE A VIRGIN IN A HELMET!" lol
Agreed. Those chess pieces look sweet ... but are way outta my price range!!
And why are you guys making fun of the Optimus voice changer? I've already got mine on pre-order ....
*** ducks head from objects being thrown ***
Just kidding!!!
LOL
LV, I agree. The poses for the chess pieces are fantastic. And they are infinitely superior to the horrid sculpts of the Titanium line. I finally returned all my mini Titaniums, after coming to terms with how utterly stupid they look. How many times are they going to release a G1 character with knees mid-bent, leaning backwards slightly, in a totally unnatural pose?! And don't get me started on Starscream with his one wrist at a 90-degree angle, and in the other hand, he's holding a pistol! Seriously, WTF people.
that chess set looks nice and really the titaniums would have been the perfect stand alone pieces (even if their sculpts are horrible!).
what i REALLY would have liked is have one of those gundam chess guys run with this idea. i mean something like this (a set though not blind boxes for my sanity) would rule:-

it makes me sad thinking of what could have been ...
evebird! thanks for the pvcs and random crap!
Was never a fan of the mini-Titaniums. I've only bought several of the 6' transformable ones ... the line seems to get better and better IMHO.
I read somewhere that Hasbro was going to re-release improved versions of the first WW Prime and Megatron in a 2-pack ... any news on that?
