Now I haven't been much of a fan of the design aesthetic for the new film toys but after looking at these pics from Tformers.com I realized something.
Other than the tank Brawl... they are all just rather boring.
No. I'm not a fan of the designs.
But I think it is actually the super reduced color palettes that kind of just make really not like these.
Some of them looked fine as grey prototypes but now?
Meh.

That single leaked pick of Bonecrusher's robot mode had me sold on a toy I didn't care much for. It's pretty bad ass.
Yeah. He's not bad and I like Ratchet too. Jazz and Bumblebee are just so boring.
They're almost as bad as Dr. Doom in pants.
Meh, I'm not pretending that AEC was the height of robot greatness, but these new toys just represent what seems to be a poor aesthetic in general.
I sure as hell wasn't expecting a retread of the Floro Dery designs, but I swear ILM intentionally steered into every possible cliche on the way to the final product.
Insect-inspired features to represent alienness? Check.
Weapons that are stored inside the body, Eastern-style? Check.
Sharp metal edges contrasted with visible pistons and other such obvious 'robot' features? Check.
*shudder* These toys are giving me flashbacks to robo-Donald Sutherland in "Virus"...
"Jazz and Bumblebee are just so boring."
Ditto.
