I need to decide where this damn collection of plastic crack is going.
Do I continue to go for a sense of completeness and allow myself to be duped by Hasbro into buying the Armada Demolisher mold again for the 4th time?
These are the lame ass questions I continually have to ask myself when it comes to these useless toys of mine.
I should let my "like or dislike" of a mold to govern my decision-making but the damn collector nature, and the inherent "completeness" that overcomes me ends up making the decisions.
The Cryo Scourge repaint of the Flame Convoy mold is fantastic! I totally love the dark blue/purples/yellow going through this redeco. This is actually the superior paint palette for the figure and way better than the original or rare Luck Draw version.
I do like the Armada Optimus Prime so I'll get the repaint of that. The figure is simple, is definitely a "Convoy", and even though I own 3 versions of the mold (original, Nemesis Prime, and Ultra Magnus) I really like this color palette.
I totally hate the new Unicron figure and honestly, it'll take one helluva discount for me to probably get that.
I need to find some of the Takara Galaxy Force redecos too. Yes. I'm lame and like the dark colored ones.

Well, we all knew repaint season was coming. And sadly, I have caved to both "Dark" Crumplezone (and I was impressed. He's not so much a repaint as a remold, and he looks more badass than his green counterpart) and "Nemesis" Leobreaker. (who's just a straight repaint-they didn't even change the sound chip. Lame.) I'll probably get the Prime, being that I missed Armada, and the Smokescreen repaint of Crosswise, being that he was one of my favorite G1 guys. (He emitted large clouds of smoke at will and sounded high. He was the autobot Tommy Chong.) Other than that, and the giant planet guys, I am so done with Cybertron.
Which is cool, because I'll need a few months off before the "Classics" show up.
I'm a believer that if you don't like a figure, don't feel pressured to buy it. I still have yet to purchase Runamuck (I think thats the one). I don't want another Armada Sideswipe (even if it was slightly remolded). Maybe at the very end of the line if I can get the thing half off, maybe, but otherwise, no way. Same will go with the Demolisher repaint. It just doesn't do much for me.
I used to be horribly completist. Somewhere along the line though I found I didn't enjoy my hobby nearly as much. It became more about finding the next toy than enjoying what I already had. Plus I didn't have room for them all. I open all my toys and when I started having to store large chunks of my collection it was very dissapointing.
I honestly hardly buy TFs anymore. I've limited myself severly. Generally the toys I buy anymore fall into one of a few basic categories.
A) G1 homages. I'm probably way down on the bottom of the "G1 hardcore" scale but if it's a homage I'll probably pick it up. Soundwave, Chockwave, Blurr, yep, great toys. If it's just a name reuse it tends to vary. This has to definitely BE the guy it's refering to.
B) Jets. I have this massive hard on for any transforming winged aircraft. ESPECIALLY decepticons.
C) Figures that stike me as particularly interesting. I guess the best example of this I can think of is Cybertron Red Alert. I like the colors and design, so I picked him up.
Anyway, more and more I find myself passing on new toys. There was a time when I'd have snatched them all up unquestioningly.
Anyway, I'm rambling. On a wholey unrelated note, i wish I had the Ultra Magnus repaint of Armada Prime but I coudln't find myself justifying the purchase since it required I also pick up a version of the horrible looking Sideways mold.
Ramen Junkie: Why oh why that hideous Armada Sideswipe has been reproduced over and over and over is beyond me.
Actually i just got the new deluxe Unicron you learn to love it i think it's pretty cool
