I find it extremely funny that the toys I love the most aren't in the movie at all!
Transformers Longarm is the 2004th Transformer that I've acquired.

Quite frankly, other than the fact you can't detach his wrecker "hook" from his hand he's a solid bot in the movie non-movie line!
I really love the use of the corrugated metal (or whatever it is called) on this guy too!
He was in the movie,he just didn't transform.
He looks friggin sweet!!!
I wonder if Hasbro will repaint him and call him Classics Hoist???
I have read that you can unscrew the hook/weapon from his hand and it works okay in both modes. Haven't opened mine yet but when I do I am going to try that.
N:
I must be putting a premium on altmode realism with these movie toys, because I just couldn't bring myself to purchase Longarm when I saw him, even though DVD gave him a good recommendation (historically, I usually find this a good indicator of how I will like a TF). He has a great-looking robot mode, and a cool bio.
I just can't get past the truck mode. The cab is too wide by perhaps 30%. It looks fine in 3/4 views like the above, where it adds a sort of forced perspective, but head-on views and an in-package inspection are a different story. It seems as if the designer took a pickup-based wrecker, stretched the cab width to make it flush with the wrecker-body sides (which usually project out to cover the dual rear tires 1-ton chassis have) and then perhaps stretched the width a little more.
By the way, Longarm is pretty clearly, to me, based on a Ford Super Duty cab. Some have said it was a combination of Dodge Dakota and other elements, but I think he's closer to the Ford, and the Dodge attributes come from the copying that Ford did of the Dodge Ram 'cause it "looked tuff".
Cordially yours:
Autobus Prime
w/minicon Farebox.
I bought this and thought I got a shitty broken one because the front end doesn't really fit all kosher so I returned it only to find out they're all that way.
Still a great toy in robot mode.
I read the toy was based on a Ford F-350, while the one onthe movie is, of course, a GMC.

i really hate his face. it looks retarded for me.
I like his head...it's better than some we've gotten in the movie/game character line.
i mean, at least he has two freaking eyes.
The first thing i did when i got him was unscrew that damn gun/wrecker arm from his hand. That had to go. Because of it's peg, it will fit in the other hand just fine for display, or can be displayed bot only, which is nice. Kind of pisses me off that they decided to put "Orson's towing" instead of "Mike's Towing" like the movie had it, but who am i to question to almighty will of Hasbro in their infinite wisdom?
Like Travis said however, the front takes a bit of working to fit together juuust right, but no more than say '08 bumblebee.
I got mine at walmart right after they had their new shipment in, and it was the only one in it's case assortment. Shortpacked? Or does my walmart simply suck? (It's in the depths of upper michigan, so maybe both) Pick Longarm up while you still can. You won't regret it.
He's certainly cooler than Dreadwing.
Longarm is a great transformer! At first I didnt like his feet, there a bit big, but now I like that as they make him really easy to have standing up.
