So I'm definitely going to be getting the new Revoltech Starscream and especially Revoltech HotRodimus Hot Rod.

I still need to get Megs though.

2008-01-19-hotrod.jpgWhat's funny is this Hot Rod pose in the advert, done much like a Wachowski brothers' trademark slow-mo capture, reminds me of how I visualized this one scene in Splintered that I ended up cutting out. (Leave it to me to so far cut out almost all the traditional and cliche TF action scenes).

I suppose I should rework that back into the scene where Hot Rod refuses to fire a weapon again.

Who knows... maybe this posable crack will come in handy for me visually.

I'm happy that someone posted some rear box picks of the fairly pointless filler Cybertron Jetfire and Cybertron Wing Saber repaints over at Tformers.

I'd be lying to you if I said that a part of me didn't call out for them when they were shown only from the actual alt mode top pics last week.

I am probably the only crack loser out there who would buy a ton of like-colored repaints and ditch the originals just to that they'd look like a consistent army on the shelf.

I'm not talking about the same figure over and over and over again (I'm looking at you Energon Terrorcons and Omnicons) but a paint palette that makes them look like they are part of a squad or team with a similar purpose or camoflauge.

Customing will be the only way I'll get that.

I still may get the Jetfire repaint and ditch the original Cybertron one.

Who knows. The thoughts between the moment I pick it up and put it into a cart and then to the checkout cashier are when all the actual decisions are made.

I've pretty much decided to sell off or give away my various broken and/or piece meal Sky-Lynx figures and get a fully operational new Encore one from Captured Prey.

I could care less if it is "original G1" or not.

I'm wondering though, it they seem to be able to do the Encore line for Sky-Lynx and Omega Supreme, is a G1 Shockwave not to far behind?

That would do 3 out of the 4 non-Takara molds.

It is unlikely that a G1 Jetfire from a Macross Valkyrie will ever be done in an actual production run again.

At first I couldn't care less about the Revoltech figures but wow that Hot Rod is...well hot!. Even screamer looks like you can get some real bad ass poses with him.

Yay Splintered!

You're not the only one that wants to see a real colourscheme applied across a number of figures; a visually cohesive force is both intimidating and aesthetically pleasing.

The problem nowadays seems to be something akin to the loss of dynamic range in modern pop music; Hasbro are so busy trying to move product off of the pegs that they'll make each TF as Armada-eye-watering as a possible.

Compare and contrast Bruticus and Bruticus Maximus; even with such a disparate palette between the team members of the former, it manages to retain a subtle cohesion that its successor sorely lacks.

(Not to mention how kick-ass and unified urban-camo Ruination looks...)

Unfortunately, your chances of ever seeing something like this are nil unless (a) it's a giftset or (b) a plot point (or both.)

Maybe i'm being too cynical but someone will inevitably repaint the Revoltech Starscream into Skywarp & Thundercracker. It's about as obvious as the sun coming up tomorrow...

But dammit, i want a Revoltech Soundwave...

Maldroth: There's something just awesome about Hot Rod.

JOP: G1 Bruticus, for all the colors, does work pretty well together. I think because they are all relatively muted. Then you look at Devestator, Defensor, Predaking, and King Neptune and they all look so great combined due to the cohesive scheme.

I can still hope... as misplaced as that hope probably is.

Bruticus: I'm kinda shocked they would do a Hot Rod before Soundwave but for some reason, at least in Japan, Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime does seem to get a lot of attention.

Those revoltech TFs are pretty cool (all 5), but I really don't plan on owning any of them.

Cybertron Jetfire & Wing Saber repaints - everyone knows they're just TFTM filler (must be the whole military aircraft thing)

I think I would literally piss myself if they Encore reissued all 5 Dinobots or Fort Max with his Sword - drool forming already...

I can't imagine the economics of Fort Max or even Grand Max would be in the cards, especially with TakaraT really not actively doing much TF-wise any more. Encore is almost like E-Hobby right now.

Brave Max was tied to Car Robots appearances and even he wasn't a full up repaint/rerelease of Fort
Max.

I'm not sure where the copyrights stand, but I'd be willing to bet we'll see something called Fortress Maximus and Metroplex in the new line.

I'm thinking that if they do that leader class niche with Animated, those bigger guys could be done in that size and still look large enough.

I doubt we'll ever get the "partsy" type stuff of G1 Metrpoplex again though.

I'll be happy with a nod to a couple of Headmasters later on and Micromasters... not frigg'n Minicons.

Then again, I'll be pretty much happy with whatever they do as long as it doesn't involve 1) Unicron, 2) Grimlock dominating stories, 3) Optimus Prime not dominating stories, and 4) Megatron not not becoming Galvatron. It is time for Galvatron to become another separate character completely.

Nala: We can all hope & dream.

It's a given that Hasbro had pretty much nothing to do with the recent Encore reissues - Any TF person just knows that it was all Takara's doing.

I just wish we could speak/type Japanese - it seems to be the only means of communication with Takara. Why can't the fandom get through? Argh

Oh, & have you seen who MP-07 is gonna be? "Me, Grimlock"

I didn't mean to imply Hasbro having anything to do with Encore at all. I meant that I can't even see TakaraT redoing the Fort Max mold again and being able to move the necessary units to make a profit, even from the US and other market TF fans.

I think we'd be likely to see some new concept for those appearing in the future in TF Animated then in rereleases.

I don't think I've come across any news on any site about Animated Leader-class figures though.

Unfortunately, I was stuck in line at Botcon trying to ship my crack on Sunday. I still can't believe they did the damn Hasbro panel on Sunday.

So far Animated is only sold in the Deluxe and Voyager sizes. 13 Deluxes and 8 Voyagers, and a Deluxe 2 pack of battle damaged Prime and Megatron. Some pictures are floating around of it and it does look good, especially compared to the craptacular one we got during classics.

No word about larger scale Animated yet but we will have to see what Season 2 holds.

I know that Universe this fall will have 8 deluxes and 5 Ultra class figures.

Uhg new crack can't come soon enough I'm sick of Movie repaint hell.

Am definitely getting the Revoltech Hot Rod & Starscream.

And I too am hoping for a G1 Shockwave Encore reissue ...
