Oh. Bought Onslaught and some of the G1/G2 legends figures yesterday.
I decided that I'd go with the cheaper Onslaught and then just get the Henkei Silverbolt and Powerglide.

Yeah, you know, I'm not buying that those are heretofore unknown Lucky Draw items like the seller claims they are. The Rodimus has the chrome on him so he's apparently that far down the production cycle, but if it's a contest prize, what was the contest? The same guy had a clear Soundwave and some other stuff and said it was made in-house for Takara employees or something.
I'd really really need to see some sort of certificate of authenticity or SOMETHING to back that up.

I wouldn't want this. It looks horrible. I don't care how rare it is. I remember the day I got the original Rodimus Prime as a kid. I got so mad because the trailer part was really really stuck to the body and I was afraid I was going to break it. I had to give it to my dad to try to get it off.
I hate Rodimus Prime. They ruined a good character by making him a Prime. He was awesome as Hot Rod.
That Lucky Draw Black Rodimus takes a horrible G1 mold and somehow manages to make it look worse. Hmphh.
And Nala, I hear ya on the Powerglide and Silverbolt.
I, too, got the Onslaught, but I also just got the G1 Powerglide minibot I had as a kid. Screw it. To be honest, I like that G1 mold better than his new Universe/Classics mold.
Hoop: Definitely. "Uber rare" has so many meanings. My Unlucky Draw figures will be "uber rare" when I get around to giving them out.
that carl guy: Just you wait. There's a tale over 7 years in the making that may (then again probably not) change your mind about the whole Hot Rod/Rodimus story.
Perhaps it'll be done and ready for public consumption by 2020 at the rate I'm able to work on it.
Holy Cats! Thats a great synopsis. I want to read this thing! I'm somewhat of an artist. Maybe I'll do some inspirational art for you sometime. I'm not sure I've drawn Hot Rod yet.
I like the bridging the gap between G1 and Beastwars. I tend to ignore everything that happened after the Movie so all of season 3.
I do like the episode where some of the Autobots were made into Humans. I thought that idea could use some more exploring only I'd want a different cast then they picked. Probably Prime, Bumblebee, Grimlock, Jazz, and Arcee (for some hot chick action). And no ugly jumpsuits. :D
Hoop, the contest was announced in Hyper Hobby issue 38 from 2003. I'm not privy to the origins of the Soundwave prize but there is an established record of chromed toys given to employees.

I don't know anything about Lucky Draws offhand but I do remember them writing about acquiring the magazine in question recently. It's easy to make the connection when the information is fresh in my mind. I don't research so much as remember. Hell, I wouldn't be able to find anything on the internet if I wanted to. I'm Google impaired.
